D BLOCK - PEER PRESSURE
D Block "Peer Pressure" Album Review
Not impressed with this performance
This album is extremely average compared to solo D-Block albums. I also thought there was not enough Jadakiss. I only liked about 4 tracks on the whole album and did not deserve much more than one star. Sheek Louch's album 'After Taxes' was much better than this and i hope future D-Block albums are not in any way similar to this one. I think the D-Block/G-Unit complications make D-Block weaker and the dissing of G-Unit does not really work all that well. I do really hope that the next album is an improvement to this one.

CO DEEZ - ROYALTY
Co Deez "Royalty" Album Review
Laid back with good potential
I should start by saying I am a big fan of Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Tribe, De La, etc. so you know where I'm coming from. I have a low tolerance for simplistic production treated as an after-thought (AKA Puff Daddy and everything on KMEL 106).
Great production on this album, I think the mark of talented rappers is they know when to put down the mike (and their ego's) and let the music do it's thing. This works if you put in the time on production, it doesn't if you don't.
If you know People Under the Stairs these guys sound very similar, in fact on some tracks I thought it was one of the guys from PUTS.
So per my intro, I am not a big fan of (C)rap where some fool shouts into a mike over a drum beat and calls it music, it isn't. Happily there is none of that here.
Co-Deez puts in the time; rapping over multi-layered hooks, horns, piano, bass, drums, which takes time to produce and that's why so many guys get it wrong; they're lazy. Co-Deez seems to understand that which is saying a lot.
These guys have spent time in the crates and it shows. One of the early songs features a little ska hook which was smart, it made me stop listen as I thought, is that what I think it is ?
Keep up the good work guys, and remember the more it sounds like Pete and CL (hooks on top of hooks on top of more hooks) the better.
Need some inspiration ? Check out "Lots of Lovin" track 4 from "Mecca and the Soul Brother:" drums, bass, female vocals, keyboards, bells, ahhhh the definition of sublime.
Red, E.C.M. 4(15) for life
P.S. work on that website will ya ?
Deth to Clearchannel, destroying music for a mindless nation at a radio station near you !

OPIO - TRIANGULATION STATION
Opio "Triangulation Station" Album Review
Dope signals TRIANGULATING from Op's STATION.
Finally arguably the finest Hiero lyricist drops his official solo album. Throughout every Souls of Mischief and Hieroglyphics album Opio's lyrics were always a major highlight. His high pitched delivery was always filled with charisma+intelligent rhymes. He also started to gain a name for being an accomplished producer on Hiero projects so he really was well equipped to put together his solo without major issues. The only negatives with this album was that out of the 17 joints there was about 6 or 7 mediocre tracks in comparison to the other 10 or 11. There was afew tracks were the production wasnt that good and no matter how hard Op tried he couldnt lift them. I kind of slept on this for awhile before picking this up but I havent regretted it once since then so I would recommend this to every hiphop/Hiero fan. The album gets off to a blinding start with "Viva Main Vein", an infectious beat+rhyme combo from Opio. The standouts on this in my opinion were "Viva Main Vein", "Confederate Burning" feat.Casual+Rasco, "Whats Wrong With This Picture?" feat.Del, "Roxanna", "For Those Who Dont Know", "Mind, Body and Soul", "Drivers Wanted" feat.Souls of Mischief, "Talk Dirty" feat.Pep Love, "Perseverance" and "Grassy Knoll" feat.Planet Asia. The rest were either suffering from average rhyming from guests, Opio or weaker production than the ones Ive mentioned. This really was a bright spot for hiphop at a time when every 2nd album coming out was crap. Go cop it, you wont regret it.
